The Roles Of Photography In Our Civilization
Photography started becoming widespread in 1888 when George Eastman advertised his new camera that was very simple to use with only pushing a button. This is the person who developed roll film and the Kodak camera. You might be surprised, but the word Kodak was originated by Eastman. He felt that K was a strong letter and thus he wanted a word that started and ended with it. After some time, the familiar Kodak in red and on a yellow background has become popular everywhere. Photography has started with glass plates and wet emulsions. Then it evolves to roll films and recently digital photography was developed, which has created an opportunity for everyone to take pictures and create personal records of their lives and their loved ones. Nowadays, photography is one of the most popular hobbies in the world and professional photography business has developed steadily as well. Photography is considered as an art to express individual views toward certain objects. Early photography clubs have taught the basic knowledge of this hobby to many enthusiasts. They explained how the film could be processed into a negative and then developed into a positive representation of the original image. As color came into photography with a reasonable price, more people were interested to learn about this field. Photography has developed continuously. Cameras have become much smaller and some of them are very small so they can be hidden in a shirt button. Motion picture is also a part of photography that has made many people become moviemakers so audience can enjoy a life-like look at their daily lives. When instant film and cameras were available for public, photography became a widespread hobby. Everyone wants to see pictures immediately after they are taken and digital photography comes to answer this demand. Creating history with photography For our generations, it is difficult to understand events that have happened in our early history because there are only limited records of those events. In most cases, they were depicted in rough drawings on the walls of caves. As photography was invented, our civilization can maintain visual records for many generations in the future so they can understand what has happened today. Photojournalism and amateur photography have contributed in capturing many special events happened in our world today to be a part of future's history. This is something that was impossible to be done in the past.
