What a girl sees is a self-centered ego maniac that's not going to be able to take care of her at all, because he isn't interested in her and does not listen to what she has to talk about. Not a good relationship prospect.
One other way of saying it is that guys try to be interesting. They figure they need to be interesting for a girl to be interested in them. Sorry guys, but it fails that way. You have to be keen on the girl, not interesting to get her attention. Did you ever see two interesting persons on a date. It is hilarious! They're both so busy trying to be interesting to the other that neither has time to be considering the other.
If you do not know what I am speaking about, think what makes you feel better. A girl who is keen on you? Or a girl who is letting you know how cool she is, how hot she is, and so on, and all kinds of other interesting issues.
Interesting leads to a lot of rejections and "platonic" friendships incidentally. Girls will be friends with a guy who is interesting. Why? Girls enjoy being amused and entertained. Interesting guys are sort of like children to them. An origin of non-sexual amusement and pleasure.
